Nowadays, it is no longer possible to solve global problems without the participation of BRICS. This organization is a serious lever of influence in international politics. Dialogue with the BRICS members helps to harmonize the world situation, and the existence of such a structure reflects changes in the system of international relations.

BRICS does not focus solely on economic cooperation; the BRICS leaders are ready to interact on a wide range of issues and are committed to dialogue with all countries. The BRICS members call for open markets and oppose protectionism. One of the most important issues of the organization is the fight against international terrorism, money laundering, drug trafficking and human organs.

For BRICS, cooperation in science and technology is also an important aspect. The BRICS Forum provides an opportunity for holding various conferences, both for well-known and very young scientists. The number of contacts between representatives of the scientific community under the auspices of BRICS is increasing every year, there are significant results of joint activities on environmental problems and climate change.

The BRICS countries are actively cooperating in the field of healthcare modernization. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, BRICS has established itself as a cohesive structure, ready to jointly effectively resist the spread of coronavirus infection in the world, while the EU countries coped with the pandemic on their own, avoiding each other’s support.

At the same time, the USA perceives the BRICS initiatives negatively. The United States views BRICS as a military alliance acting at the expense of the security of the West. However, this is not true – the BRICS countries are adherents of nonalignment and building a multipolar system of international relations. They are not interested in creating an anti-American union, but they are trying to find ways to build a system of global economic cooperation. The fact that BRICS deals with issues of “soft” security, rather than “hard” issues of security, makes it a more relevant and more effective institution of global governance in the current environment. BRICS is above confrontation, this organization should not get involved in conflicts and does not participate in confrontational processes in the world. BRICS is able to enhance general multilateralism in international relations.

Western analytical institutions agree that the United States and its allies cannot afford to ignore cooperation with BRICS, since there is no optimal approach to addressing today’s threats. The BRICS countries are open to dialogue with the United States and its allies, but the West refuses to cooperate, considering BRICS a threat to national and international security. At the same time, interaction between BRICS and the United States in the field of countering drug trafficking can contribute to a significant change in the situation on this problem. International analysts believe that as a starting point, the BRICS countries and the United States should create a special working group to exchange information and direct efforts to jointly block the activities of major drug cartels within this group. This kind of cooperation will significantly reduce drug trafficking in the world. Another topical issue is cooperation on the Internet on influencing information and countering hybrid wars actively carried out in cyberspace.
